Safe Esbjerg was converted from a drilling jack-up to an accommodation/service jack-up in 2005.
The conversion took place in Dubai at Lamprell Energy Ltd. The rig was completely refurbished and upgraded to the latest North Sea standards, and is now compliant with DNV, DEA, DMA and other regulatory bodies.
Safe Esbjerg has been operating for Maersk in the Danish sector of the North Sea since June 2005. The contract has been extended and runs now until June 2011, with an additional one-year option until June 2012.
